About me

Vilhjálmur Hjálmarsson received his ADHD diagnosis in 2000 at the age of 33, at a time when public awareness of adult ADHD was still limited. In 2011, he joined the board of the ADHD Association in Iceland (ADHD Samtökin), later serving as vice chair for six years and currently serving his fifth year as chairman. From early on, Vilhjálmur became a vocal advocate on ADHD-related matters. Since joining the board, he has given numerous talks on ADHD medication, often alongside a fellow board member and psychiatrist, and has served as the association’s main spokesperson on medication and other ADHD-related issues. Vilhjálmur is a trained actor and holds an MA degree in Cultural Management, but as he often puts it: “I mostly do other things - a jack of all trades, master of none - or simply put, an atypical adult with ADHD.”
