Tom Burns worked as a psychiatrist in Uppsala from 1980 to 1983. Returning to London as a consultant he drifted by accident into academia and ended up as Professor of Social Psychiatry in Oxford University. He still spends time regularly in Båstad and insists on continuing to speak Swedish with a terrible English accent.
