Get ready for the most exciting Baltic-Nordic Congress in Psychiatry of 2024!

We are proud to announce that the Latvian Psychiatric Association is hosting the Nordic Congress of Psychiatry for the first time in Riga, Latvia from the 6th to the 7th of June of 2024 (NCP 2024).

Latvia is a member of Nordic Psychiatric Association which is a great example how to unite clinical practices and gain not only experience but also to be inspired on how to overcome different challenges in mental healthcare across Baltic and Nordic countries. The Nordic Psychiatric Association has a long and vivid history in enriching psychiatry in the context of modern rapidly changing global events.

NCP 2024 theme is “Knowledge and Humanity in Psychiatry”. The program consists scientific presentations of the highest quality with plenary lectures from world-renowned speakers (Prof. Norman Satorius, Prof. Anita Riecher-Rössler, Prof. Katharina Domschke and Prof. Swaran Singh) and scientists, as well as excellent clinicians from Nordic countries who will present their achievements and relevant themes in symposiums.

Topics include social psychiatry and understanding the role of the psychiatrist, as well as the past and the future of psychiatry, also mentioning such important themes as suicide, neuromodulating therapies, approaches to psychotic disorder treatment, the policy and attitudes changes towards clinical psychiatry and, last but not least, we will highlight the importance for clinician burnout.

Psychiatry is becoming more and more demanded, but are we fully equipped for this overwhelming workload? During the Congress participants will have time to meet colleagues from all over the Baltic and Nordic countries – social interaction, as well as education quality (the Congress is CME accredited) are a crucial part of our everyday life as psychiatrists. As the Latvian Psychiatric association president Prof. Maris Taube has said “This Congress is also a very good opportunity after a long period of time to see again each other in person, discuss formally and also informally our local – Nordic and Baltic – issues and challenges in psychiatry, listen to distinguished plenary lectures, and enjoy local hospitality.”
